The early 1800′s are when the real revolution began. Scientists finally woke up to what the population at large had been telling them for centuries – rocks really did fall from the sky. The founding of meteoritics as a science can be traced to this period, with a number of famous falls such as L’Aigle (France, *1803) and Weston (USA, *1807) being only two of the better-known.
